Education and Work Experience

Andrea G. Forte is a Researcher within the Chief Security Office at AT&T. He earned both his Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in Italy. The paper based on his dissertation work on fast handoffs for real-time media in IEEE 802.11 wireless networks was published in ACM MobiWAC 2004. Later commercialized by SIPquest Inc. (now Counterpath), the fast handoff algorithm was awarded the 2004 TMC's Internet Telephony Product of the Year and the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Research Award.

Before joining AT&T, Andrea worked for many years as a Research Associate in Prof. Schulzrinne's IRT lab in the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University in the city of New York.

His research interests include network security, mobility, real-time media, emergency and non-emergency location-based services, location obfuscation and privacy, wireless networks and signaling compression.
